Mozart / André: Clarinet Quartets Op. 79 – Luigi Magistrelli

Still today of uncertain attribution, the story wants the three Quartets for clarinet and strings Op. 79 arranged by Johann Anton Andrè who took as many chamber compositions from the Salzburg area and arranged them for a different ensemble, placing the clarinet at its center. Whether they were arranged by the same author or not, there remain three examples of how the clarinet culture of the late eighteenth century was in full expansion and how the instrument was beginning to know an increasing interest thanks to both great compositions, including some of the Mozart himself, who to great virtuosos who increasingly needed a repertoire with which to perform. Luigi Magistrelli, absolute expert in the sector and talented virtuoso of the instrument, presents them to us in this new recording accompanied by the Italian Classical Consort.
