Mozart: Complete Piano Trios – Trio Parnassus

Mozart’s piano trios mark a decisive moment in the evolution of chamber music, elevating the genre to new artistic heights. This critically acclaimed complete recording by the world-class ensemble Trio Parnassus captures that transformation with intellectual rigour and musical sensitivity. Both celebrated masterpieces and lesser-known fragments are presented in this thoughtfully curated edition, setting a benchmark for quality and artistic vision.

Trio Parnassus, one of today’s leading piano trios, approach Mozart with a balance of precision and expressive depth, allowing each musical line to unfold with natural elegance. Their playing reveals the full richness of Mozart’s style without ever sounding overstated. The result is an interpretation that feels deeply engaging.

The rich sonority and iridescent timbres of the now-legendary “Manfred Bürki” Steinway concert grand from 1901 merge beautifully with the strings. This remarkable equilibrium between piano, violin, and cello reveals the conversational nature at the heart of these works.

The ensemble’s musicianship offers clarity, structural insight, and stylistic authenticity. Every detail is captured vividly in MDG’s audiophile-quality recording, making this release not only a pleasure to appreciate on a high-quality system, but an essential addition to any discerning collection.
