Mozart: Piano Quartets K. 478 & K. 493, Sonata K. 381 – Salvatore Barbatano

This Da Vinci Classics album was recorded live during a concert of the Festival “Armonie della Sera” in 2022. It took place within the magnificent framework of the royal hunting palace of Stupinigi, near Turin. The manor’s eighteenth-century architecture, marked by its theatrical style, mirrors the kaleidoscopic effects of Mozart’s music. In his two Piano Quartets and in his Sonata KV 381 for piano duet, Mozart manages to conjure the emotions, affections and feelings of the theatrical stage, in spite of the small chamber ensembles he employs. This album therefore invites us to the pure delight and enjoyment of a visual and aural contemplation, surrounded by the scenographic palace of Stupinigi, and with the dazzling brilliancy and liveliness of three of Mozart’s masterpieces.
