Prokofiev: Rare Original Solo Piano Transcriptions – Alexey Zuev

Rarely heard, Sergei Prokofiev’s own transcriptions for solo piano reveal a fascinating new perspective on his orchestral imagination. This collection brings together rare piano versions of symphonic and ballet works, including several world premiere recordings. Far from simple reductions, these transcriptions transform works such as the “Classical” Symphony, Le pas d’acier or L’Enfant prodigue into dazzling and highly personal creations.

Performed by Alexey Zuev, a specialist of Russian twentieth-century repertoire, and enriched by the research of leading Prokofiev scholar Marina Raku, this album sheds fresh light on a little-known but essential facet of Prokofiev’s creative world.
