Released to mark the 30th anniversary of Keith Jarrett’s ‘Standards’ trio, Somewhere finds the ensemble in purposeful mood at a 2009 Lucerne concert. Their programme includes two Leonard Bernstein compositions (the leisurely title track and a briskly swinging Tonight), an affectionate and edgy take on Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and two tunes associated with Miles Davis – Solar and I Thought About You – that the three have recorded before. Apart from the brief piano solo Deep Space, which opens the concert, the only original material here is Jarrett’s Everywhere, a lovely trio excursion through a rainfall of dancing ostinatos.
