The musical legacy of a legend: Karl Richter’s collected historic recordings. Karl Richter (1926–1981) is one of the most important figures in post-war Bach interpretation. This edition combines his entire documented legacy for the Telefunken-Decca (Teldec) and Ducretet-Thomson labels, which are now part of the Warner Classics catalog. It reflects Richter’s work as a harpsichordist, organist, and conductor, documenting a musician whose repertoire extended far beyond his primary focus. At the same time, it provides an overview of his creative output and his position in the musical landscape of the 20th century. Several recordings appear on CD here for the first time.
