Bach: Trio Sonatas – Costin, Robert

Yet another recording of the Trio Sonatas, but this one is most enjoyable and catches the spirit of this music very well. Robert Costin generally chooses lively tempi and often sparkling registrations for outer movements, with good clarity and balance, if also with occasional pedal action noise. Slow movements use the beautiful flutes of the Pembroke organ, with a rare miscalculation in that of the third trio, which is far too slow. Excellent recording quality and notes, but no information about the performer, which is a pity, as this disc certainly demonstrates his fine musicianship. …
