The Fourth Symphony in G major by Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) is perhaps one of the composer’s most popular works, for the use of themes sometimes recalling childhood, for the strong biographical imprint and also for being perhaps one of the shorter symphonies written by him. In 1921 the composer Erwir Stein, an admirer of Mahler, made his own arrangement for a reduced ensemble which allowed a further circulation of the work and which allowed, without sacrificing the Mahlerian genius, to be able to perform and appreciate it in more intimate spaces. The instrumental ensemble “Giulio Rusconi” is a small and versatile chamber orchestra born in 2013 from an idea of Marco Pisoni. The group of artists betrays nothing compared to the complete score, respecting every single note, every single harmony and every single, precious instrumental motif, arriving in many points to enhance the contrapuntal texture of the original.
