Silent Landscapes: 32 Contemporary Piano Miniatures From Greece, Italy, Spain – Erato Alakiozidou

This album, entitled “SILENT LANDSCAPES”, is based both on works composed for the MMS (Mediterranean Miniature Sketches) project, by the same Hellenic pianist Erato Alakiozidou (belonging to a group of refined Greek musicians, engaged in contemporary music, in artistic research and in various pedagogical projects), both on pre-existing material selected by her. During the project, 70 works from various Mediterranean countries were publicly performed, selected and then merged into the present 32 miniatures which in turn tell a unique story. Together they synthesize a descriptive work that combines images, feelings and colors to form a great piano narrative that crosses the entire Mediterranean basin from east to west. Alakiozidou arranged the pieces in this order so that they fit his own history, as the Mediterranean – a common reference point for all Greek composers – is still perceived by his artists today as a motif and inspiration for creation.
